Why This Book ?
Through my writing, I seek to provide readers with a relatable and genuine experience of what it's like to identify as a 'trans' person. I'm aware of the unfortunate demonization of the 'trans' community that has surfaced in our society lately, and I want to do my part to erase such negative stereotypes. I believe it's essential for people to be able to gain insight into a positive and uplifting story of a person who grew up feeling they were not in the right gender. There were no words to describe this feeling many years ago, but this doesn't mean it wasn't real. My goal is to aid understanding and acceptance..
Where is my next talk?
Who is Tall Annie ?
As a young male, I served in the U. S. Navy on a nuclear submarine stopping Chinese trawlers from resupplying the Viet Cong. I open with a true story of my submarine’s rescue of a downed aircrew in the middle of a typhoon.
I am a woman who transitioned her gender 27 years ago in mid-life while in a senior role for a major corporation. I had a professional career in both genders in the semiconductor and solar industries. I am happily married ( 20 years now) and retired where people who love mountains and wish to avoid Oregon’s famous rain reside.
My story is informed by my work experience which includes; U.S. Navy nuclear-trained submariner, Vietnam Veteran, Facilities Engineer, Director of Facilities, local politician, and semiconductor factory designer, with international experiences including two years in China.
I focus now on giving back to society for the bounty I have received from it. It is my hope that this book will be one more way to give back.
Oh yes, I am tall.
